A joint investigation has led to a South Pittsburg man being charged with murder, child abuse and neglect in the 2017 death of his girlfriend's son.
According to a news release, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation worked with the South Pittsburg Police Department and Tennessee Department of Children's Services to find out what happened to the 11-month-old boy who died Dec. 13.
The TBI news release gave no information about how investigators focused on Jonathan Beaumonte, 22, as the suspect in the death.
The Marion County grand jury on Monday indicted Beaumonte on two counts of felony murder and one count each of aggravated abuse and aggravated neglect.
The release said Beaumonte was arrested Wednesday and booked into the Marion County Jail on $20,000 bond.
