Chattanooga police arrested a homeless man Friday night after he allegedly tried to rape a woman in Coolidge Park.

Anthony Hixson, 53, is charged with attempted rape. He was booked into the Hamilton County Jail, and his bond was set at $50,000.

Police got the call at around 10:30 p.m. and found a woman who was missing her pants and underwear, according to court records.

The woman said she had been assaulted by a man in the park, and she identified him when police walked him out of some bushes, court records state.

She told police the man began flirting with her under the walking bridge as she was asking for money. The two were sitting in the grass when he attacked her and tried to take off her clothes.

She yelled "no" and for help, she told police, and she remembered another man pulling the attacker off of her.

A woman who made the call to police told investigators she saw some movement in the bushes and then saw Hixson on top of a woman who appeared to be struggling.
