The Prosecuting Attorneys' Council of Georgia honored Conasauga Judicial Circuit District Attorney Bert Poston during a meeting last month.

The organization named Poston its "District Attorney of the Year" over the weekend of July 22-25. The award is supposed to honor a prosecutor who shows "outstanding leadership and dedication."

The Conasauga Judicial Circuit includes Murray and Whitfield counties. During his time as district attorney, the circuit launched the state's first Domestic Violence Court. He has also served as chair of the Prosecuting Attorneys' Council. "Throughout his years of service, our office has received multiple calls and letters from victims and others in our community recognizing his efforts and compassion in serving our community as a prosecutor," Domestic Violence Investigator April Parker said in a statement.
