Officials clear Ooltewah High School for normal dismissal after social media threat

UPDATE: Law enforcement officials have cleared Ooltewah High School to proceed with normal dismissal, according to Tim Hensley, spokesman for Hamilton County Schools.

PREVIOUS STORY: Students are being held inside buildings at Ooltewah High School after a possible threat was reportedly made on social media.

The social media post may have contained a threat against a student at the school, said Tim Hensley, spokesman for Hamilton County Schools.

Hamilton County Sheriff's Office school resource officers are investigating the social media post and access is being limited to the campus and school buildings.

Sheriff deputies always investigate any threat to determine its validity, according to HCSO spokesman Matt Lea, in a news release.

A message was sent to parents to notify them of the incident, according to Hensey.
