The Chattanooga-based Passat GT has been named as one of CarGurus' "top cars for your commute," according to Volkswagen of America.

The list accompanies the website's Commuting Sentiment Survey and offers vehicle recommendations for different types of commutes around the country, according to the automaker.

CarGurus cited the 2018 Volkswagen Passat GT for its blend of high fuel economy along with the power to tackle frequent steep roads.

"With 280 horsepower, its powerful 3.6-liter V6 engine has enough power to keep commuters going on their daily drive," says Matt Smith, senior editor at CarGurus.

Derrick Hatami, executive vice president of sales, marketing, and after sales for Volkswagen of America, said the GT represents "the best of what Passat has to offer."

"It's V6 engine is powerful, yet efficient, it sits low for better driving dynamics and the interior and exterior styling is amped up for a sportier look. We think it's a great choice for a daily driver and are honored that CarGurus agrees," he said in a statement
