Jon Meacham, a Pulitzer prize-winning presidential historian, will visit Chattanooga next week to share his insights on history and today's political environment.

He will speak to students at McCallie School on Monday, the school announced Wednesday.

Earlier Wednesday, Meacham, a Chattanooga native and McCallie graduate, delivered a eulogy at the funeral of President George H.W. Bush, whom he became close to while writing "Destiny and Power," a biography of the 41st president of the United States.

Meacham is the author of several best-selling history books including "Thomas Jefferson: The Art of Power," "Franklin and Winston: An Intimate Portrait of an Epic Friendship," "American Lion: Andrew Jackson in the White House," "Destiny and Power: The American Odyssey of George Herbert Walker Bush" and most recently "Soul of America: The Battle for Our Better Angels." Meacham was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for biography in 2009 for "American Lion."

The talk is not open to the general public.
