A Rossville, Georgia, man has been charged with murder after allegedly shooting his uncle in the chest with a shotgun over the weekend.

The incident, which happened around 9 a.m. Sunday, occurred in a home occupied by several generations of one family and located in the 200 block of Steele Road, according to the Catoosa County Sheriff's Office. The suspect and the victim both lived in the home.

The victim, 60-year-old Somvang Vorachak, died at the scene.

Investigators conducted interviews throughout the day. Other people were inside the home at the time, but Sheriff Gary Sisk said only one shot was fired.

Bounmy Manhrasamy, 37, has been charged with murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.

On Monday, Sisk could not say whether Manhrasamy gave a reason for shooting his uncle, but said the shooting resulted from a fight.

Manhrasamy is being held in the Catoosa County Jail pending a court appearance.
