A man apparently stepped in front of a tractor trailer in downtown Athens, Tennessee early Monday morning and was hit and killed in front of the McMinn County Justice Center, according to police.
A news release states the incident happened just before 7 a.m. when a man dressed in dark clothing standing in the center turn lane of South White Street (state Highway 30) walked into the path of the truck.
The man died at the scene. Police are not releasing his identity until next of kin are notified. The truck driver was not injured, according to the release
