MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - Authorities say a police officer in Tennessee fatally shot an armed man after a confrontation.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation says in a statement that the shooting occurred late Thursday in Memphis. The statement said police arrived at the scene and found the man armed. The statement says the situation escalated resulting in an officer shooting and killing the man.
Police did not release the identities or races of the man or the officer.
Authorities said the circumstances that led up to the shooting are under investigation. The bureau said forensic scientists collected evidence at the scene and field agents are interviewing witnesses and gathering information.
