Chattanooga police sergeant accused of soliciting prostitutes resigns

Sergeant Peter Turk, who is accused of soliciting prostitutes, tendered his resignation from the Chattanooga Police Department effective Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2018.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation's criminal case, which is separate from CPD's Internal Affairs investigation, remains active and ongoing.

The Chattanooga Police Department opened an internal investigation of a sergeant in CPD's Investigations Bureau on Thursday, Dec. 13.

CPD launched the internal affairs investigation after the sergeant was taken into custody for solicitation of prostitution during a joint enforcement operation between the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and the Chattanooga Police Department's Vice Unit. The sergeant was off duty and not part of the enforcement operations.
