Tuesday night fire destroys Sale Creek home

A fire destroyed a Sale Creek home Tuesday night, according to a news release from Hamilton County emergency services.

Sale Creek fire officials said the homeowner was not home when the fire broke out, but a dog died in the fire.

A motorist made the 911 call at around 8:30 p.m. to report a fire at a house in the 4000 block of Retro Hughes Road.

The house was fully engulfed when Sale Creek Volunteer Fire Department arrived. The roof was totally collapsed.

Because of the instability of the structure, firefighters conducted a "defensive attack" on the fire to extinguish it quickly, but the house is a total loss.

Damages are unknown at this time, and the cause of the fire is undetermined and will be under investigation by the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office.
