UPDATE: Hamilton County Schools will delay opening for two hours Thursday because of possible flooding and standing water on roads.
School-aged child care will open at the normal time today.
Grundy County Schools and Bledsoe County Schools are closed Thursday.
ORIGINAL STORY: Steady and sometimes heavy rain Wednesday has triggered flood warnings to be issued for Hamilton and several surrounding counties, prompting a few area schools to delay opening Thursday.
As of 11:50 p.m. Wednesday, Grundy County Schools in Tennessee and Dade County Schools in Georgia are delaying the opening of school two hours.
Dalton High School will be closed Thursday after a teacher allegedly fired a weapon Wednesday at school. All other Dalton schools will operate on a normal schedule.
One lane or more are closed on: 5200 Hunter Rd.; Kenwood Dr. at Moore Rd.; Shallowford Rd. at Jenkins; Tunnel Blvd.; Cherwood Ln.
Road closures: 700 Mtn Creek Rd.; Davidson Rd. at Gunbarrel Rd; Cummings Hwy at I-24 ramp; Lower Mill Rd @ Sandswitch Rd
