Ryan Street shooting ruled a 'justifiable homicide'

UPDATE: The Chattanooga Police Department announced in a news release that the violent crimes bureau is still investigating this homicide and continuing to work closely with the Hamilton County District Attorney's Office as the investigation proceeds.

ORIGINAL STORY: Chattanooga police responded to a shooting late Monday night in the 1500 block of Ryan Street.

A black man was lying on the ground suffering from a gunshot wound when officers arrived on scene.

The victim, Taji Webb, 26, was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

After interviewing witnesses and collecting evidence, police believe the homicide was justifiable and the use of deadly force was necessary.

Investigators have consulted with the Hamilton County District Attorney General's Office and it's been determined no charges should be filed at this time.
