Tennessee Department of Transportation officials said weather and traffic delays are slowing the slide repair work on State Route 68 west of Spring City in Rhea County, Tenn., but one reopened lane has relieved some drivers of long detours and officials hope the work is finished in July. Here, traffic heads down the mountain after the temporary traffic signal gave drivers the green light.

State Route 68 near log mile 5 in Rhea County, Tennessee will be closed Monday and Tuesday to speed completion of a road stabilization project after a slide there in April, a news release states.

Tennessee Department of Transportation crews will complete rebuilding the outside lane and install guardrail, allowing the road to be fully reopened to two lanes nearly a week sooner than without the closure, according to TDOT.

Detours will be posted.
