Juvenile suspect sought after assaulting cyclist, calling racial slur

Chattanooga police have found the driver and identified a passenger who is accused of hurling an object at a cyclist on Hickory Valley Road last week.

The driver identified the passenger when questioned by police, according to Times Free Press news partners WRCB-TV News Channel 3. A warrant was filed in juvenile court, as the suspect is 16 years old.

The cyclist, Charles Peacock, had three recording cameras on his helmet and bike when a black Ford Edge SUV drove up behind him as he was riding last week, WRCB reports.

Peacock said he felt what he thought may have been an empty bottle hit his arm as the two people in the SUV drove past him. They also yelled a racial slur at him.

Police have not been able to find the juvenile suspect as of WRCB's report.
