Officials: Vehicle hits power pole, flips after driving off Highway 60

Authorities responded to a single-vehicle crash Tuesday morning in the 6400 block of Highway 60, according to a Hamilton County Sheriff's Office news release.

About 7:15 a.m., 911 dispatchers were notified by OnStar that a vehicle using their notification service had crashed on Highway 60 near the Hamilton County/Meigs County line. HCSO personnel, Hamilton County Emergency Services and Highway 58 Volunteer Fire Department firefighters along with Meigs County first responders responded to the scene. After locating the accident, it was determined the incident occurred in Hamilton County.

The vehicle was located off the roadway and down the side of an embankment on Highway 60. It appeared at some point during the crash to have hit a power pole and flipped on its top.

The only occupant of the vehicle, a male driver, was extricated and taken to a local hospital. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

The exact details of the crash are still under investigation.
