Two people were arrested over the weekend in Grundy County after deputies found suspected methamphetamine, a weapon and a working lab to make the illicit drug.

P.J. Thomas, 38, and Jonah Elaine Morris, 31, both of Tracy City, were taken into custody after deputies made contact with the pair in the parking lot of the Elk Meadow Apartment Complex in Coalmont, Grundy County Sheriff Clint Shrum said Sunday in a post on the department's Facebook page.

Neither Thomas nor Morris live at the apartment complex, the sheriff said.

"During the investigation, deputies discovered approximately [4] grams of meth, a handgun and an operational meth lab," Shrum said.

Thomas and Morris are both charged with promotion of the manufacture of methamphetamine, and possession, sale and delivery of schedule II drugs. Thomas is additionally charged with unlawful possession of a weapon and aggravated assault, Shrum said.

Bond and court dates are pending, he said.
