The Walker County Sheriff's Office arrested a man earlier this month on charges of drugging and raping a woman.

According to an arrest warrant affidavit, a woman told an investigator on July 11 that 37-year-old Stephen Lee Kearns gave her an unknown drug. She said she then felt incapacitated.

The woman said Kearns, of LaFayette, then "used his fists, the flower case and a gourd" to penetrate her.

"(The victim) stated she could only remember the incident vaguely because of the effects the narcotic had on her but does remember the assault due to the immense pain that was inflicted on her," Walker County Detective Allen Ellenburg wrote. "(The victim) advised she was scared for her life and thought Stephen was going to try to kill her."

According to the report, Walker County 911 has received other calls about Kearns threatening the woman before the alleged rape.

After the effects of the drug wore off, the woman said, someone drove her to a hospital. Her emergency room discharge paperwork shows a diagnosis of vaginal and anal tearing.

The Walker County Sheriff's Office charged Kearns with aggravated sexual battery. He was arrested July 19.
