A woman accused of trying to run over a Fort Oglethorpe police officer pleaded guilty earlier this month.

Carol Yvonne Green, 22, will go to prison for 10 years for the incident, according to a guilty plea she signed March 2. The charges stem from a chase in July, when officer James Davis saw Green pull out of a gas station at Dietz and Cloud Springs Road, heading toward oncoming traffic.

According to an incident report, Davis learned that Green's driver's license was suspended after he pulled her over. She yelled that she couldn't go to jail. Davis said he reached through the window to turn the keys in the ignition. But, he said, Green slammed on the accelerator and steered left, toward him.

A Fort Oglethorpe lieutenant later caught Green after she crashed during a chase. Children were in the back seat the whole time.

She was charged at the time with driving under the influence, two counts of endangering children, three counts of reckless conduct, fleeing or attempting to elude, three counts of false imprisonment, obstructing or hindering law enforcement, simple assault and speeding.

On March 2, Green pleaded guilty in a second case: rioting in a penal institution. According to an arrest warrant, she punched a woman at the Catoosa County Jail in November.

She received a 5-year sentence in that case, according to the plea she signed. It's not clear if she will serve that sentence at the same time she serves the 10-year sentence for the previous case, or if she will serve a total of 15 years in prison.
