Melvin Lee Scott, 71, Wednesday became the second person to die following a Tuesday domestic incident and shooting in Harrison according to the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office.
At approximately 1 p.m. Tuesday afternoon, deputies responded to the 12000 block of Eldridge Road on a report of a person shot. Preliminary reports indicated that a domestic situation occurred between Scott and Shawn Pruitt Foster, 35. At some point during the course of the argument, a firearm was introduced and both men were wounded, a news release stated.
Both victims were transported to a local hospital with critical injuries. One was flown by Life Force helicopter and the other was transported by HCEMS via ambulance, according to a news release.
Foster was pronounced dead after arriving at the hospital.
