Republican Chuck Payne cruises to re-election in Georgia

Georgia State Sen. Chuck Payne, R-Dalton, cruised to re-election victory over Democrat Michael Morgan for the District 54 seat tonight, according to unofficial election results.
Payne received 31,855 votes. Morgan received 7,324 votes.
District 54 consists of Whitfield and Murray counties, as well as northeastern Gordon County and western Pickens County.
