Man barricaded inside Dalton apartment arrested after SWAT team fires tear gas inside

UPDATE: The man barricaded inside an apartment on Richards Street in Dalton, Ga. has been arrested.

SWAT team members moved an armored vehicle into position in front of the apartment and fired tear gas rounds inside.

David Keefe came out of the front door with his hands up and surrendered.

He was evaluated by EMS and arrested by Dalton officers. He's charged with aggravated assault, false imprisonment, and cruelty to children in the first degree for committing domestic violence in the presence of the victim's children.

Dalton detectives are remaining on scene to execute a search warrant to process the crime scene after it airs out more.

More charges are pending.

ORIGINAL STORY: Dalton police are responding to the scene of a man who is barricaded inside a Dalton, Ga. apartment.

The call started as a domestic incident this morning before 8 a.m.

Police believe 23-year-old David Arnando Keefe was involved in a fight with his girlfriend and fired a shot during the fight.

The victim was unharmed and escaped to a neighbor's home and called 911.

Keefe is inside the apartment and police are on scene maintaining a perimeter around the building.

The Georgia State Patrol's SWAT team is en route.
