A male student at Ooltewah High School was arrested Thursday night and charged with making false reports in connection with an anonymous Instagram posting that contained a "perceived, generalized threat" toward other students there, a news release states.

Hamilton County Sheriff's Office personnel were called to a residence in response to concerns about the posting that was circulating among Ooltewah High students, according to the office.

Detectives investigated and the student, a juvenile, was identified as being responsible for the posting. The investigators found there was no means to carry out a threat in the possession of the student, who was arrested and taken to the Hamilton County Juvenile Detention Center where he was charged.

"There were never credible threats to the school," Hamilton County Schools spokesman Tim Hensley said Friday morning. "We always bring in law enforcement when we get reports of this types of things and they did their investigation."

Hensley said schools officials "appreciate our parents and our students who keep their eyes open for these types of things and we always remain vigilant."

He said the school is not under any lockdown, lockout or anything affecting normal operations.

No further details were immediately available.
