UPDATE at 5 p.m.: A roof being installed at a water distribution products company in Chattanooga caught fire Saturday afternoon.

The large commercial fire began shortly before 3 p.m. and quickly spread across the roofing material at Mueller Company near Amnicola Highway.

Workers inside the building were safely evacuated, despite early concerns that some were trapped on the roof, according to Chattanooga Fire Department spokesman Bruce Garner. Employees sounded the fire alarm and quickly evacuated to the facility's parking lot where the company did a headcount to ensure everyone had gotten out safely.

The fire burned for about an hour before being controlled.

Officials do not know the cause of the fire, yet, and there is no estimate on the cost to repair the damage.
