Warren County man charged in March arson

A joint investigation by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, the Warren County Sheriff's Department, and Tennessee Fire Investigation Services has resulted in the indictment of a McMinnville man on an arson charge.

On March 22, the TBI, investigators from Warren County and Fire Investigation Services responded to a structure fire at 736 Depot Road in Rock Island, Tennessee. The structure was an outbuilding that was being utilized as a dwelling at that time. During the course of the investigation, the TBI developed information that identified 60-year-old Billy Ray Nelson as the individual responsible for setting the fire.

On Nov. 2, the Warren County Grand Jury returned an indictment charging Nelson with one count of arson. Nelson was arrested on Nov. 7 and booked into the Warren County Jail on a $7,500 bond.
