A woman previously reported missing was found dead near her home this morning.
According to a release from the Walker County Sheriff's Office, detectives found Dora Lee Stratton's 1997 Honda Accord at the bottom of a gully next to Beverly Street, near where she lived. The investigators believe she missed her driveway, drove about 75 yards down the road and crashed near the woods. Her body was found outside the car today.
Detectives believe Stratton, 72, exited the car after it crashed but could not get out of the gully. They believe she died either from natural causes or from the elements of the weather.
She was reported missing Sunday afternoon.
