Four arrested, jailed in Polk County after multi-agency drug investigation

Four men are facing a variety of drug-related charges between Polk and Monroe counties, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation announced Thursday.

On November 13, deputies with the Monroe County Sheriff's Office got information about a methamphetamine source based in Polk County that was being distributed across multiple counties, according to a news release.

A joint investigation between county and state officials took form and lead to the search of a location on Kimsey Dairy Road in Turtletown in Polk County.

There, agents found more than two pounds of methamphetamine, a small amount of marijuana, drug paraphernalia and several rifles and shotguns.

William Runion, 66; Woodrow Baxter, Jr., 62; and Kenneth Courtwright, 38; were all charged with one count possession of schedule II controlled substance.

Eric Key, 43, and Baxter were charged with possession of schedule VI controlled substance.

Baxter and Runion were charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.

And Runion got a charge for possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony,

Courtwright also was charged with criminal impersonation.

All of the men were arrested on Wednesday, and they were booked into the Polk County Jail.

Controlled substances are categorized into different schedules depending on whether they have a currently accepted medical use, potential for abuse and likelihood of causing dependence, according to the Drug Enforcement Administration.
