Charges were filed Wednesday against a Brainerd High student that distributed an unknown substance to other students last week, sending several to the hospital.
The juvenile, whose name has not been released, was charged with 4 counts of reckless endangerment, according to the Chattanooga Police Department.
Five students ingested an undetermined substance and began showing "concerning physical symptoms" at Brainerd High last week.
Multiple law enforcement agencies responded, including CPD, the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office, the Drug Enforcement Administration and the city of Ringgold.
Police have still not determined the substance that students ingested at Brainerd.
At an unrelated meeting Wednesday, Superintendent Bryan Johnson responded that any disciplinary actions following the incident would be handled at the school-level by school administrators. He noted that the district would not disclose disciplinary actions taken against students.
Four students were also sent to the hospital Wednesday in a separate incident at Central High School after ingesting "drug-laced gelatin candies."
CPD confirmed that the department is investigating where the substance originated. HCSO is investigating what occurred at Central High.
Central High's principal, Finley King, said one student had been expelled as of Wednesday.
