With a proven quarterback and stout defensive line returning, Auburn was a trendy preseason pick to repeat as SEC West champion.

Just halfway through the season, those aspirations are essentially gone for the No. 21 Tigers (4-2, 1-2 SEC), who host Tennessee (2-3, 0-2) on Saturday.

Mississippi State ransacked Auburn 23-9 last week, raising questions over whether the Volunteers might be able to pull an upset this week that most would have deemed unthinkable prior to the season.
