Firefighters battle blaze in Hidden Harbor home

Three people escaped injury when their home in the Hidden Harbor subdivision caught fire Thursday evening.

Around 8:20 p.m., a homeowner alerted 911 of the fire, located in the 1600 block of Rock Bluff Road, according to a news release from Hamilton County Emergency Services. Dallas Bay Volunteer Fire Department responded and reported seeing flames through the roof.

The homeowner told firefighters that they had smelled something burning in the house and when they investigated they found heavy smoke in the garage.

Two men and an elderly woman escaped the fire without injury.

The cause of the fire is so far undetermined, although officials report it did start in the garage. The Hamilton County Sheriff's Office will investigate. Damages were unknown at the time of the release.

The homeowner was insured and the American Red Cross will assist the family with their immediate needs, the release stated.
