Authorities in Jackson County, Alabama, have a person of interest in the Tuesday night death of a 25-year-old woman who was found seriously injured, lying along a Bridgeport roadside.
Friends found Samantha Frison, of Bridgeport, with critical wounds and put her into a private vehicle and took her to Parkridge West Hospital in Jasper, Tennessee, Jackson County Chief Deputy Rocky Harnen said. As they headed to the hospital with Frison, they called 911 in Jackson County, Harnen said.
"Initially she was thought to be stabbed but now we're unsure about that," he said.
Deputies headed for the Jasper hospital but she had been pronounced dead by the time they got there, Harnen said.
No charges have been filed but foul play is suspected, the chief deputy said. Investigators have spoke with the person of interest, who is from Alabama, he said.
"They did an autopsy today, but we still don't have the results," Harnen said Thursday.
