Jessica Hubbuch, a former aquatic biologist who teaches chemistry and physical world concepts at the Howard School, is among nine teachers statewide named to the inaugural Tennessee Teacher Ambassador Network, a news release states.

The network partners each teacher with division leaders in the Tennessee Department of Education so they can learn more about state-level work, help share state-level communications with their peers and inform local policy and practice, according to the department. The program is aimed at providing more opportunities for educators to grow as teacher leaders.

"Unlike other fellowships, this experience ensures teachers are completely embedded in critical areas of our work so we can improve to better serve our students," Education Commissioner Candice McQueen said in a statement.

The teachers selected were highly recommended and chosen through a competitive application process. All have at least three years of experience and were chosen based on their individual impact on student and school successes, leadership, insight, communication skills and capacity for network efforts including project management, the release states.
