A man wanted for multiple armed bank robberies in south Fulton County was arrested Monday after allegedly trying to rob another one, police said.

Anthony Lee Carter, 22, is accused of trying to rob the Wells Fargo bank in downtown East Point and was arrested, East Point police said in a Facebook post. He was wanted on armed robbery and terroristic threats charges.

He's also accused of robbing a Regions Bank in East Point and a PNC Bank in Union City on Oct. 17, police said.

While allegedly robbing the Regions Bank at 2833 Main Street, he passed a handwritten note to a bank teller that said his daughter had been kidnapped, and he needed $40,000, police said. The teller allegedly gave him an undisclosed amount of money.

He's in the East Point Jail and will be taken to the Fulton County Jail on Tuesday night, East Point police spokeswoman Ebony Johnson told AJC.com.
