A fire that significantly damaged the Piney Woods Baptist Church, located at 614 E. 52nd St., earlier this month has been ruled as arson, the Chattanooga Fire Department says.
No one was injured, but the fire caused an estimated $150,000 in damages for the building and its contents, according to a news release.
The fire was reported at about 11:38 p.m. on Sept. 2. Flames were visible through the roof when fire fighters arrived, an earlier news release stated. It was brought under control in under 20 minutes.
Anyone who has information about the cause of this fire is urged to call the Tennessee Arson Hotline at 1-800-762-3017. A cash award of up to $5,000 is being offered for information that leads to an arrest in this case.
