Brother, sister charged in 2015 slaying in Soddy-Daisy

Hamilton County authorities have arrested two people in connection with the 2015 slaying of Timothy Stewart in Soddy-Daisy.

Authorities on Tuesday charged 35-year-old Randy Layne with criminal homicide. Layne's sister, Kattie Lynn Layne, 32, is charged with abuse of a corpse and criminal responsibility for facilitation of criminal homicide in connection with her involvement in Stewart's death, officials said in a statement released early Wednesday.

The brother and sister were taken into custody in Soddy-Daisy by the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office Fugitive Apprehension Strike Team without incident, officials said.

Randy Layne is being held on a $500,000 bond at the Hamilton County Jail. Kattie Lynn Layne's bond has not been set.

The investigation is continuing and no further information will be released, authorities said.
