The Chattanooga Police Department has launched a Facebook page to share information and offer tips about property crimes, including burglaries, fraud, robberies and pawn-related crime.

Investigators will update the page regularly, identify trends, share information about suspects being sought and offer prevention tips, a news release from communications coordinator Elisa Myzal states.

"We want to be able to alert the public on property crimes that happened recently and the suspects or persons of interest we are looking for," Property Crimes Acting Lieutenant Kevin Akins said. "We know that when police and community members work together we can solve crimes quicker, making our community a safer place to live."

The department's original Facebook page covers all department-related matters, while this one is intended to focus only on property crimes.

Community members may report property crimes by calling 911 or 423-698-2525.

Tips may be submitted privately on the property crimes Facebook page or through the Chattanooga police mobile application available in Apple and Android app stores.
