Chattanooga attorney Justin Grey Woodward has been censured after allegedly exchanging sexually explicit text messages and emails with his client while representing the person in a "domestic relations" matter.

Woodward, who is licensed to practice in Tennessee and has offices on Georgia Avenue in downtown Chattanooga, was censured Thursday by the Board of Professional Responsibility of the Tennessee Supreme Court, according to a news release from the board.

The release states that as a result of the messages, "there was a significant risk that Mr. Woodward's personal interests materially limited his representation of the client."

A public censure is a rebuke and warning to an attorney but does not affect the attorney's ability to practice law, according to the board.
