MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - Officials say a California-based vaccine distributor is paying $1.6 million in back wages and benefits to 515 workers in Colorado and Tennessee.
The U.S. Department of Labor says McKesson Specialty Distribution contacted the department's Wage and Hour Division to report infractions at facilities in Aurora, Colorado, and the Tennessee cities of Memphis and LaVergne.
Labor officials said McKesson failed to pay the required wage rates to employees working on a contract with the Centers for Disease Control. McKesson also didn't pay correct overtime rates and fringe benefits.
Wage and Hour Division District Director Nettie Lewis says McKesson "made every effort to correct violations once they identified their errors."
A subsidiary of San Francisco-based McKesson Corp., McKesson Specialty Distribution works with the CDC's federally-funded Vaccines for Children program.
