A man was arrested over the weekend after he allegedly pulled a gun on a security guard outside downtown Chattanooga nightclub Coyote Jacks, according to Hamilton County court records.

Chattanooga police had been on foot patrol at Coyote Jack's around 1 a.m. Saturday when they saw three men running out of the bar being chased by a security guard, court records state.

The guard told police that a man identified as Jewone Colvin, 26, had been in a fight inside the bar. The guard said he broke up the fight, which is when Colvin ran outside to his vehicle and pulled out a handgun from the trunk.

The guard told police he was "in fear for his life as soon as Mr. Colvin turn [sic] with the gun" so the guard pulled his own weapon and told Colvin "to get on the ground."

That's when Colvin threw the gun under a vehicle, the guard told police.

Police did find a gun under a vehicle. Another gun was found in the same vehicle from which Colvin retrieved the first one.

Two other people were detained but not charged.

Colvin was charged with aggravated assault, theft under $500 and disorderly conduct. He was taken to the Hamilton County Jail where his bond was set at $100,000, according to online court records.

One week earlier, on July 28, two men were arrested just outside the bar for being in possession of a gun and marijuana for resale, court records show.

Police were called for a "weapon law violation" just before 3 a.m. that day, court records state. The caller reported a person was in a white Dodge Charger with a gun on his lap.

When police arrived, they found the vehicle at the corner of Cowart Street and West 14th Street, court records show. They detained two people who were in the vehicle, later identified as Juwan Reynolds, 24, and Kenard Coleman, 25.

During that time, officers saw the handle of a firearm in plain sight under the front passenger seat. When they retrieved that weapon, they found another gun also under the seat, court records state. And a third was found under the driver's seat.

Police also found a small amount of marijuana in the glove compartment and 7.5 grams in the armrest of the back seat, court records show. They also found a scale and scissors with marijuana residue, as well as eight oxycodone pills.

While the two men were in the police vehicle, they were recorded talking about what police had found, court records state. Coleman is heard telling Reynolds he would take ownership of the firearms because, "If I do that he can't charge you with unlawful."

Reynolds agreed and told Coleman to tell that to the magistrate, as well.

Both men were charged with possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, drugs for resale and possession of drug paraphernalia. Additionally, Reynolds was charged with possession of a firearm with intent to go armed.

Attempts to reach a Coyote Jack's representative Monday were unsuccessful.

In March, 18-year-old Brandon Rogers was arrested in connection with a February shots-fired call outside the downtown nightclub and bar.

Shortly after the February incident, the club, owned by Ronnie Berke - Chattanooga Mayor Andy Berke's uncle - and Tammy Taylor, announced plans for a rebranding.

It was the second revamping since its 2015 opening as Bella Vita.

Over the years, the club has had several shootings, including one that left five people injured, and at least two homicides take place just outside its doors.
