Suspect still at large after two people injured in Dalton, Georgia, shooting

Two people have been injured in a late night Dalton, Georgia, shooting, according to a news release from the Dalton Police Department.

The victims, a 21-year-old and a 15-year-old, were sent to local hospitals for their injuries, while the shooter remains at large. Both victims are expected to survive their injuries.

Jobanie Martinez, 21, has been identified as the suspect, and Martinez and the victims reportedly knew one another, according to police.

Police say the shooting happened around 11 p.m. on Sunday at a residence on Dozier Street. Investigators believe Martinez and the residents were associates and have been in some sort of dispute. After being at the residence for a short time, police believe Martinez began shooting at the victims with a handgun, before fleeing the house, the release states.

Martinez is wanted on two counts of attempted murder, two counts of aggravated battery, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, burglary in the first degree, and criminal violation of the Georgia Street Gang Act.
