The Chattanooga Area Chamber of Commerce, which was started 132 years ago, has recognized 62 local businesses, schools and other organizations which are at least 100 years old.

During the Chamber's annual meeting on Tuesday, officials handed out plaques for the businesses and groups which have been in Chattanooga since 1919 or earlier.

Jeff DeLoach, president of the Chattanooga Times Free Press which is celebrating its 150th anniversary this year, praised the local companies and groups that have maintained their business and mission for the past century and more. The newspaper is recognizing many of those businesses in a special section in the upcoming Sunday edition.
