Motorcycle rider dies after being struck by car Tuesday on Lee Highway

UPDATE: Police have identified the man killed in the Lee Highway crash as 55-year-old Michael M. Steele.

Original story: One person is dead after a Tuesday morning crash in Chattanooga.

The incident happened just after 9 a.m. in the 7500 block of Lee Highway when Chattanooga police say the driver of a GMC Acadia turned into the path of a Honda Shadow motorcycle, according to a news release.

The rider, a 55-year-old man, was transported to a local hospital where he died from his injuries. His identity has not been released pending notification of next of kin.

The driver of the GMC, 68-year-old Gary Moore, was issued a citation in lieu of arrest for failure to yield right of way (accident resulting in death of another).
