Moe's Southwest Grill on Highway 153 near Gadd Road sustained about $400,000 in estimated damage from a fire that was spotted around 4 a.m. Sunday.

Chattanooga Fire Department Battalion Chief Don Bowman said in a statement issued on Sunday that firefighters got the call at 4 a.m. followed by a second alarm for a total of 12 fire companies to respond to the scene of the fire.

Firefighters who got to the scene first found heavy smoke coming from the roof, Bowman said.

"After having to forcibly open the doors crews made their way into the restaurant and found a fire near the back of the building," Bowman said. Crews put the fire out quickly.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation. There are several other businesses in the building but they were not damaged, Bowman said.
