UPDATE: Chattanooga police have identified and charged the suspect in the fatal hit-and-run that killed a 2-year-old toddler.

Anwoiane Galloway, 36, is charged with leaving the scene of an accident with death, failing to render aid, driving without insurance and driving on a suspended license.

ORIGINAL STORY: Chattanooga police confirm a two-and-a-half-year-old child has died Monday after being hit by a car in the parking lot of the gas station at the Kanku at 3440 Wilcox Blvd.

The suspect fled the scene after hitting the child between the gas pumps and the store, Lt. Austin Garrett said.

Police found the suspect a short time later, not far from the gas station.

No additional victim information or suspect information was available.

Charges are possible pending the completion of the investigation, Garrett said.
