UPDATE: There's no environmental threat from material that spilled at the I-24 on-ramp at Browns Ferry Road this morning, Chattanooga Fire Department Bruce Garner said.

He said the company that makes the concrete curing agent, W. R. Meadows, has told fire department personnel on the scene that the spilled material is water soluble and is not a threat to the environment, including any wildlife in Lookout Creek."

It makes the creek look like someone spilled milk in it, but again, the company says it is not hazardous to the environment," Garner said.

The westbound on-ramp has been closed since the spill happened around 10 a.m. The Tennessee Department of Transportation says the ramp should reopen around 3:30 p.m.
