With five days remaining in the TSSAA mandated two-week dead period — where high school athletes are not allowed to practice or workout under the supervision of coaches — Times Free Press sports editor Stephen Hargis kicks off a new segment previewing the prep football season.
In the coming days, and throughout the approaching season, Hargis will spend time with Chattanooga-area football coaches and players to discuss their outlook.
The segment begins today with Meigs County coach Jason Fitzgerald, whose team has been ranked No. 1 in Class 2A each of the past two seasons and is again expected to be a championship contender.
