KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Two West Virginia residents are facing life in prison after they were convicted of robbing elderly retirees at gunpoint in Tennessee.
WVLT-TV reports , Josh Small and Joni Amber Johnson were found guilty on Wednesday after a three-day trial in Knoxville federal court.
According to the indictment, Small and Johnson committed home invasions of elderly Tennessee residents. The pair tied up the victims, held them at gunpoint and stole their valuables, which they later sold to pawn shops in West Virginia.
Small worked paving driveways, often for retirees and the elderly who paid cash for the work. Some of the victims were his customers.
Sentencing is later this winter.
