The Tennessee Department of Transportation will close the bridge in Marion County over Running Water Creek on State Route 156 starting at 5:30 a.m. CDT Friday and will reopen Saturday evening, officials said.

The closure is part of a $2.3 million rehabilitation project being done by contractor Mid-State Construction Co. on the two-lane bridge in Guild, Tennessee, TDOT spokeswoman Jennifer Flynn said. Crews will be pouring concrete for the bridge's deck.

"SR-156 will be closed at the Running Water Creek Bridge for the deck pour and continue to be closed through Saturday July 27, 2019, to allow the concrete adequate time to cure," Flynn said.

During the closure, traffic will be detoured via U.S. Highway 41, State Route 27 and Interstate 24 at exit 158, Flynn said.

Message boards and other signage will be in place to warn motorists of the closure and work.

Once reopened, the bridge will remain open only to one 10-foot lane and a controlled temporary traffic signal were remain in place until the project is completed in October.
