A Chattanooga police officer was shot while on duty at the Waffle House on East 23rd Street at around 4 a.m. Sunday morning.

The officer was taken to a local hospital by a fellow officer and released later that day.

Another person was also shot in the same incident and arrived at a local hospital, though his condition is not known at this time, police spokesman Trevor Tomas said.

Dispatch had been notified of some kind of disorder and then learned of the officer injury, Tomas said.

No suspect was in custody as of Sunday afternoon.

This is a developing story and will be updated with more information as it is available.
