Walker County sheriff: Man shot after sneaking into ex-girlfriend's house

LATEST UPDATE: Wilson said Christopher Roden first broke into the manufactured home where his ex-girlfriend, Renie Coulter, lives. Coulter ran to James Ridley's house, located in front of hers on the same property.

When Roden followed Coulter there, Wilson said, Ridley shot him.

UPDATE: Walker County Sheriff Steve Wilson said in a news release this afternoon that 31-year-old Christopher Roden was the man shot in Rising Fawn this morning.

Wilson said Roden was sneaking into the home of his ex-girlfriend, Renie Coulter. Wilson also confirmed that the shooter was the property owner, James Ridley.

Charges against Roden are "pending," Wilson said. But investigators have not filed charges against Roden "at this time."

ORIGINAL STORY: The Walker County (Georgia) Sheriff's Office is investigating a shooting in Rising Fawn this morning.

According to a news release from the department, investigators have been told that a man climbed through a window at 6 Ridley Circle. The man, who has not been publicly identified, used to date a woman in the home. The homeowner shot the man in the shoulder with a .22 rifle.

He is conscious and alert, according to the release, and paramedics are transporting him to a hospital.

According to the Walker County property appraiser's website, James Wade Ridley owns the home where the shooting happened.
